I haven't posted in a long time. sorry. I am now a homeowner (moving in this coming Saturday) and almost 6 months pregnant.

The moving part is overwhelming and I can't wait until Sunday when everything will be at 1 house.

I hate my printer at work. It is printing blank sheets today and I can't reboot my comptuer because I am running statistics and if I reboot, then I have to start the statistics all over again. I did not realize how dependent I am on my printer! I feel like the guys in Office Space when the printer says "PC Load Letter".

Anyway, it helps to think of good things when you are frustrated so here is my "good things" list for today:

It is Wednesday instead of Monday.
My name is April and that is easy for people to spell and it is not a really weird or ugly or redneck.
I get to leave to see Andy and Jason in 10 minutes.
I get to have some Diet Mountain Dew when I get home.
I have somewhere to live and plenty to eat and drink.
I have a family who cares for me and understands me.
Typing on my keyboard is pretty easy because I don't have long fingernails.
I like the freckles on my arm.
I got a lot of work done today before my printer quit on me.
My office is really nice.
I have a lot of good friends here at work.
The shoes I have on look pretty good and they only cost me $3.00 at K-Mart.
I have a lot of fun hobbies at home and plan to start painting soon.
I am doing a really cool walking/jogging program and it is going pretty good.

Ok - that is a pretty good list and I feel better.

Corrections and yogurt

On my last post, I said that Mom turned 57. Well, that was wrong. She turned 58.

Also, she wanted me to make sure that everyone knows that the house in the picture below with the icicle lights is not her house. =)

Well, I have been trying to somehow get more dairy products in my diet because I usually have none and so I bought these Dannon Light & Fit Crave Control Strawberry & Cereal yogurts. (I know, long name) Anyway, it is pretty good and only one point - which is awesome because that way I can have this yogurt and then my 100 calorie snack bar too and have a 3 point breakfast that tastes pretty good. Last night I did drink some chocolate milk (fat free milk, sugar free chocolate syrup) and that was about 3 points I think. Two dairy servings a day is what I am supposed to get so it looks like I might be drinking chocolate milk every night. You can only have so much yogurt. Cheese would also be a good choice except it is a lot higher in points for a serving and I HATE cottage cheese (GROSS!)

Anyone have any other dairy ideas? Does pudding count for a serving of dairy? How much?

Explosion outside of mom & dad's house!

My parents need to be extra careful this coming saturday because this past Saturday I was visiting and suddenly there was these huge "BOOM"s coming from outside of their house. They live near the YMCA and the building beside the YMCA was in flames. There was black smoke filling the air. My mom later sent me an article to explain the noise (http://www.wbir.com/news/local/story.aspx?stroyid=42657) The Saturday before this past Saturday, a neighbors house went up in flames and burnt down. I walk/jogged today. I am in week 4 of the Couch to 5K training plan. I have been at week 4 for 2 weeks. I know that sounds funny, but last week I decided to move from the treadmill to the track and it is about 80 bagillion times harder so I might be at week 4 for a couple more weeks. At least I actually finished it today (unlike last week). It makes a total of 2.5 miles and I did it in 30 minutes (12 minute mile). I was extrememly pleased. =)

Pictures 2/3/07 (snow, wedding)

On Saturday, Febrary 3, Jason and I left our snow-covered house and went to his cousin Regina's wedding. The wedding was located at Pickett State Park in the group camp. It was a pretty big room with a fireplace and windows all around the building. This wedding was a bit unlike other weddings I have attended. Regina and her now-husband (Wesley) both ride horses all the time and are extremely casual. In fact, this was only the second time I had seen Regina wear her hair down since I have known her (5 years). The guests were told that they could wear jeans if they wanted to. They had beautiful wooden furniture that was special made by Wesley's Aunt. The front of the building where they got married had a huge wooden arch and hay on the ground. Wesley and Regina's horse saddles were displayed at the front, also. The best part of the wedding was the twinkie and moon pie cake. Some pictures are below:

Wonderful Morning

First wonderful thing: I have been trying for two weeks now to get up at 5:30 am instead of 6:30 so that I can go to the fitness center and walk/jog for 30 minutes. I finally was able to make myself get up this morning and I feel SO much better! It is so nice to know that my exercise is over with for today.

Second wonderful thing: Andy did not cry when I took him to preschool! He even shut the door for me. This is the first time in a while that he did not cry. The only thing we did different is sing "Jingle Bells" on the way to school. Maybe that is the ticket. I like that song anyway.

Snigger and spiders

The word of the day is snigger, which means to snicker. For example, "The comedian at Zanies comedy club got the croud sniggering." I think it is a funny word, but I believe I prefer snicker.

Well, since I haven't posted in a while, I wanted to say that I received four CDs from Amazon yesterday and I love them ALL. Here are the CDs I got:

The Best of Peggy Lee, Peggy Lee - there is not a song on this cd that I do not like and I think I even found another "favorite" song. It is called "I'm A Woman" and it sounds kind of bluesy. I have posted the lyrics to this song at the bottom because they are so funny. The album also has the famous songs: "Fever", "Unforgettable", and "Alright, Okay, You Win."
Not Too Late, Norah Jones - this is Norah Jones' newest album (just released in January 07) and it is pretty good. If you like Norah's music, you will like this album. The CD cover art is really neat. I haven't been able to listen to all the songs yet to say which is my favorite.
The Best of Sandy Posey, Sandy Posey - I had to get this CD because there are two songs on the album that I used to sing all the time when I was a little girl. I had the two songs on a little record album and I would play them over and over. The songs I am referring to are "I Take It Back" and "The Boy I Love." I also found that I like many of the other songs on this disk. I am so excited about it!
Dreamland, Madeleine Peyroux - I heard about Madeleine on NPR last month and she sounds like Billy Holiday (very cool) and so I looked at all four of her albums on Amazon and decided I would like Dreamland the best because it has several songs on it that I love. The album includes the songs "Walkin' After Midnight" and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter". One of my favorite songs that I had not heard before is "Was I?" because the lyrics are super funny.

Ok, enough about my new CDs. I just really love music and the way it can make you feel so good.

Well, last week (at the end of the week), Andy had a sinus infection and he hasn't really seemed like his happy-go-lucky self ever since. It has been difficult in the mornings when he cries and screams for me not to leave him at preschool. I sometimes feel like such a bad Mom having to leave him and go to work. I guess a lot of parents feel the same way.

I have decided that figuring out how to make CSS (style sheets) work in Mozilla, Netscape, IE 6 and below, and IE7 all at the same time is really time consuming. Blah! I did eventually figure it out, though.

I created three seperate style sheets and used a non-standard comment tag for all non-IE browsers, and then conditional comments for IE7 and lte(less than or equal to) IE6.

Criminal Court & Clumsy Crooks

I had to serve on Jury Duty yesterday - Criminal court. The case was about a woman who allegedly was driving under the influence. It was a real learning experience for me and for the most part I enjoyed it.

Things I enjoyed about jury duty:

A juror who was in her 80s or 90s who fell asleep during the hearing and then said that it was boring.

Things I did not enjoy about jury duty:

Making a decision that will severly affect this woman's life and her criminal record. (scary)
Feeling so ANGRY at two jurors that I wanted to hit them. The worst one was a high school TEACHER (I think at Cookeville High School)!! She looked miserable all day and had a rotten attitude. When the jury was hung, she said that she just wanted to get out of there and that this has been "the worst day of my life" and I wanted to say, "I want your life if this is the worst day of your life!". She did not care anything about the importance of her decision on this case OR about being rude to others - and she is a TEACHER!!! I don't want her teaching my kid! Pandemic Flu

I was selected to be a member of the pandemic flu committee at work last week and I have been reading articles and a book on the pandemic flu of 1918. It is really scary! However, up until today I thought "What are the chances that this will happen again?" I really thought the chances were small, until the committee chair pointed out that there have been 79 confirmed cases of the Avian (bird) flu in Indonesia as of today. Out of 79 cases, 61 poeple have died. Could this be the start of the pandemic flu? They think that the flu in Indonesia started with poultry and/or birds.

Jason has got me listening to NPR and I love it! This morning, they had a woman named Madeline Peyroux (pronounced Peru) singing on the show and she sounded like Billie Holiday! I really like her music. Her third album, Half the Perfect World, came out in September of last year. I wouldn't mind owning that cd. =)

I also would like to read the book Born on a Blue Day, which is a book about an autistic savant's brilliant mind. It sounded really interesting.

Cute Andy Story:
Andy is 3 years old. The other morning Andy was singing a song and then he said, "I used to sing that song when I was a boy." I then laughed and said, "You still are a boy!". He got a little frustrated with me and said, "No i'm not! I'm a man!" I then told him that he was not a man yet, that he was still a boy. He then explained "No, I am a man because I can jump real high!"

One more cute story:
Last night Andy had out his doctor kit and he was taking my temperature with his plastic thermometer. He said that my temperature was bad and so I asked him what was wrong with me and he said, "You lost your teeth!" He then proceeded to look in my ear and said "your teeth are in your ear!" He then left and went to the bathrooom and then came back with "new teeth" and said that he fixed me. He played this game over and over and I had many medical problems. Once I had Elmo in my ear and then I lost my back!

Big Wheels and Fish 'n Flush

So, my mom and one of my friend's mom took their big ol cars and parked them horizontally in the street to block off a section of our neighborhood road. They did this so that us kids could ride our big wheels in the road without being hit by a car. I really wish we had a picture of this because it had to look pretty funny. I wonder what a policeman would have said if he would have come in our neighborhood.

preschool and jury duty

Andy got promoted to the "big boy" classroom at preschool on Friday. He had a wonderful first day and I am so proud. He loves his new teacher because he said that she gave him cereal. I decided this was a big step for him, so I took his picture that day so we could remember it.

I was summoned for jury duty today. I had to show up at 8:30 am. It was really boring except for listening to all the lame excuses people come up with at why they are unable to serve on a jury. The best excuse I heard was from a man that looked in his later 40s. He said that his father taught him that it is not right to judge and so for religeous reasons, he does not feel right about serving on the jury. Judge Patterson let him go and then said to the rest of the prospective jurors that they better not be changing their religons before he calls their name. It was pretty funny. I was already called and was sitting in a jury seat by this time.
