Explosion outside of mom & dad's house!

My parents need to be extra careful this coming saturday because this past Saturday I was visiting and suddenly there was these huge "BOOM"s coming from outside of their house. They live near the YMCA and the building beside the YMCA was in flames. There was black smoke filling the air. My mom later sent me an article to explain the noise (http://www.wbir.com/news/local/story.aspx?stroyid=42657) The Saturday before this past Saturday, a neighbors house went up in flames and burnt down. So I am afraid what will happen next Saturday! Here are some pictures I took of the fire (be aware that the date on these pictures are wrong - they were taken February 24, 2007):

And here is a picture of Mom's birthday cake (her 57th birthday was Friday, February 23rd):

Fun Websites:

  • The Virtual Toilet Paper Museum - Inspired by Jerry Seinfeld's statement that there oughta be a toilet paper museum, the folks at this site created one. Contemplate how rough life was before 1935, when Northern Tissue produced the first "splinter-free" brand. Plus a whole page devoted to the over or under debate. http://nobodys-perfect.com/vtpm (this one is for the Duggers)
  • Where's George? - Enter the denomination, series, and aserial number of any U.S. dollar bill in your wallet, along with your zip code, to register your bill. Then spend your money and check back to see if your dollar turns up again - with the distance and travel time it took to get to its new owner. http://www.wheresgeorge.com/

  • Rube Goldberg - a comicly involved, complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple operation - http://www.rube-goldberg.com/ (make sure you click on Artwork Gallery)
  • Dead People Server - The Dead People Server is a virtual graveyard of dead famous people - the long dead, and the newly dead. Check the "not-dead-yet" category, those celebrities mistakenly reported to be dead, like Abe Vigoda, who has maintained his career despite People Magazine's report of his demise in 1982. http://216.92.255.170/dps
  • Official Outhouses of America Tour - Did you know there is such a thing as outhouse archaeology? That's where people dig under outhouses of yore to retrieve useful artifacts from the past. http://www.jldr.com/ohindex.shtml
